Curriculum

Creating a top quality 21st Century learning experience for all students is the most important part of what we do. We are committed to ‘Personalised Learning’. This quite simply means that each year we are moving towards a learning experience that is tailored to meet the needs and preferences of each student.

We are doing this by:-

We have a large number of students studying for qualifications when they are ready, regardless of whether this is before or after the expected time based upon their age.

Students at Heaton Manor are not restricted by conventional study and exam patterns and this opportunity makes it an exciting place to learn.

Students are supported in their learning by a team of Senior Leadership, Faculty Heads, Year Managers, Year Learning Co-ordinators and their tutors who work with students to ensure they understand their chosen path of study as well as to ensure they feel supported and valued.

Students will typically study in "set" or "banded" groups. Some Faculties group in mixed ability. There are different bands within each year group. These bands are not populated by ability and neither is potentially more or less able.

Students gain rewards in each lesson and regular celebratory events are held, we are very proud of our students.
