Ex-Student teaches in Ghana

Thomas Walker, who left Heaton Manor in 2013 and is now studying in Birmingham, spent 3 months after leaving School working for The Turing Trust in Ghana, where he volunteered as a teacher.

The Turing Trust was set up in 2009 by Alan Turing’s closest family, including his great nephew James Turing, in honour of his remarkable legacy. The Trust keeps Alan’s legacy alive by providing quality technology and IT training to schools in sub-Saharan Africa.

Thomas recently sent us this inspiring video highlighting his time in Ghana to show what a worthwile project it is.

Thomas made such an impact that one of the schools named a volleyball court after him!
