Girls Go For Gold

Girls Go For Gold LogoIn September two of our very talented female athletes were invited to attend the annual Girls Go for Gold sports conference.

This year's event was hosted this year by Newcastle High School for Girls.

Ailish Gregory is a swimmer and athlete. She competes at National level in the Biathlon and was placed 3rd Nationally last year in her age group competition.

Molly McDowell is a national, European and world title holder in her age group in kick boxing.

They joined over two hundred talented young female performers attended the conference from all over the country.

Guest speakers included Olympians GB Hockey player Alex Dawson who won gold in Rio and Dame Sarah Storey, GB cyclist who now has more Paralympic medals than any other Britain.

The focus of the day was too inspire, motivate and support potential future national and Olympic athletes or any female considering a career in the world of sport. The girls attended a series of workshops, some practically based, others, for example, focussing on nutrition and sports psychology.

“ It was a fantastic experience. We feel really privileged to have been given the opportunity to attend. It was really inspiring to hear Alex and Sarah share their experiences” - Ailish and Molly.
