HIARC Fundraiser

The Hiarc students' cake sale raised £290 for the deaf children and the school in Sindhuli, Nepal, who suffered during the earthquake disaster in April 2015.

The funds have been passed to Deafway who work with the deaf community in Nepal, they have sent updates to show where the money has gone.

"For 15 years we have been working with the deaf community in Nepal, helping give deaf children opportunities to learn a language and go to school.

The recent earthquakes have made our job even harder. Children all over Nepal went back to school following the 'monsoon holidays'. The 83 deaf children at our school in Sindhuli returned to find wet books in temporary classrooms built from bamboo, as their school buildings had been severely damaged by the earthquakes - I'd like to say a big thank you to your pupils for their hard work raising money to help these and other deaf children and adults across Nepal."
