Sports Round Up

Sport Round Up Jan 2017A 220The PE Department would like to congratulate Year 10 pupil Rebecca for her recent achievements at the Scottish National Swimming Gala. Rebecca swam a new PB in the 100m breaststroke and ranked 30th overall in the 50m breaststroke (top third) swimming against junior and adult swimmers. Congratulation Rebecca, what a fantastic way to close out the year.

Heaton Manor School PE Department had pretty much a clean sweep at this year’s Newcastle School Games Sports Hall Athletics Competitions.

We had winning teams in the Year 9/10 boys and girls as well as the Year 8 girls competition. The Year 8 boys finished runners up and will join the others at the County rounds in January at Temple Park Leisure Centre, South Shields. We also had a girls’ team, in the Year 7 category but they came up against some extremely tough competition and finished a very respectable sixth place.

Lots of pupils have been out representing Heaton Manor School PE Department in a variety of sports.

On Tuesday our boys were at Druid Park to take part in the Northumberland RFU U15 Rugby Union festival. They were rightly seeded in the top group with St. Mary's, St. Thomas More, Queen Elizabeth High School, Hexham and Gosforth Academy. They played extremely well all afternoon, conceding only a singly try in their draw with Gosforth. They scored seven tries in total in dominant wins over the rest of the group. Well Done!
