World War 2 Medals Donation

Over the summer the School was contacted by Mr Alan Baker who's Uncle, William Hunt, had been in the RAF during World War 2. William Hunt had been a pupil at Heaton Technical School (now Heaton Community Centre) in the 1920s.

In 1942 he was navigator on a Lancaster that took off on a bombing raid and never returned. Sergeant Hunt was listed as missing in action.

Mr Baker has donated William Hunt's records and medals to the school as a memorial to his Uncle and so the material can be studied by future generations, giving an insight into the life of one person who gave his life during the conflict.

We thank him for his generosity.
