Year 9 Mocks - Starting 26th November

This is a copy of the letter that has been sent out to Parents/Carers

Please find enclosed with this letter, a copy of the overview for our Year 9 mock examination timetable.  We will also be issuing a personalised copy of this timetable after the half term break.  The personalised examination timetable that you will receive for your child details exactly when and where students will sit their examinations.

The purpose of these examinations are to start preparing our students for the rigour of the final GCSE examinations that they will be sitting in the Summer of Year 11.  They will take the form of formal ‘mocks’ in the same format as our Year 10 Summer Mocks and our Year 11 January mocks.

Students will attend a special Year 9 assembly where the expectations that we have for our students over the course of the mocks will be shared.  These expectations are in place to ensure that all of our students are as prepared as possible for their examinations, and fully understand the examination-board rules, regulations and requirements for the public examinations that they will be sitting in the summer of 2021.  These are the same regulations that we uphold during all of our mock examinations, and it would be helpful if you would discuss these expectations with your child.

To support and prepare our students for the autumn mock examinations, our Year 9 teachers have planned a programme of teaching, advice and support.  Students will also have received a lesson on revision tips and examination practice in Citizenship after the half term break.

Key Subject Support Information:

Please refer to the separate sheet within this letter. It details the date and time of each examination alongside key information about what each subject will be examining and where extra information can be located in order to support your child with their revision:

If you have any further queries about the forthcoming examinations, or support for your child, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s Head of Year, Form Tutor, Subject Teacher, or relevant Head of Faculty or Department after the half term break.

Students will be issued with their results and grades from the autumn mocks in the form of a grade card and we will also post one out to parents/carers in the penultimate week of the autumn term.

Other Key Dates for Parents/Carers:

Yours sincerely

Mr N Holmes
