Length of service/involvement with Heaton Manor

I joined Heaton Manor in 2008 as a main scale teacher, gradually increasing my responsibilities within the English Department where I am now the Head of Faculty.  I became a staff Governor in 2010.

Committee responsibilities

Business/education background

I began working with young people in 2003 as a youth worker in the Cramlington area.

In 2004 I became a Learning Support Assistant at All Saints College in Newcastle.

From 2006 onwards I have worked as a teacher in Durham and Newcastle and am the current Head of English Faculty at Heaton Manor School.

I have previously worked with the Newcastle United Academy teaching Functional Skills to young footballers.

Local interest

I have worked across the city and in Durham but my heart very much remains at Heaton Manor School, having joined in 2008. My passion comes from my desire to make a difference to students’ lives and support the city that I am deeply connected to and proud to call home.

Vision for the future

I want Heaton Manor to be the best school in the city and continue to provide opportunities for every student who steps through our door. I am proud of our inclusive nature and hope that we can continue to provide support as a hub of the community.
