Length of service/involvement with Heaton Manor   

First child started in 1999 –involvement began immediately as an interested parent, attended meetings and workshops e.g. AGM of FGB, meetings pertaining to PFI rebuild, School Travel Group etc then elected Parent Governor 2005.

Volunteer/eventually Chair of Friends of West Jesmond Primary

Led Playground Improvement Project WJPS

Co-opted Governor WJPS 2002 to August 2016

Jointly organised week long Arts Festivals with H/T and staff WJPS for several years

Supported H/T throughout rebuilding of WJPS under PFI attending all meetings with NCC, Aura etc.

Chair of Personnel and Pupil Support Committees and on H/T Performance Review Group, Designated Safeguarding Governor, Vice Chair during 14 years’ service as governor at WJPS – resigned August 2016 to focus on other responsibilities.

Local interest

I have lived my whole life in the North East, and I am passionate about the area and its people.  Member of steering group to develop the Ouseburn Learning Trust and elected Chair November 2014.

Acting Chair of North East Circus Development Trust.

Vision for the future

For our school to continue to be the school of choice for families of all backgrounds, offering opportunity for all and continuing to develop the work of the Ouseburn Learning Trust and with our partners to increase the life chances of all of the children we represent.
