Specialised Support Team and Tutor Role

In addition to our subject teachers, our Sixth Form has its own Management and Support Team, dedicated to supporting our Sixth Form students. This team are always accessible to students and are ideally located just off from the Common Room within our Sixth Form Centre.

Students get to know this team very well, they are the heart of the Sixth Form Centre and provide trusted and friendly guidance to ensure all students enjoy their time in our Sixth Form and get the most out of their experience.

Student support is one of our biggest priorities and the strength of our student support system is without doubt one of the major reasons for the high level of student success.

Our Amazing Team:

  • Director of Sixth Form - Andy Costello
  • Deputy Director of Sixth Form - Louise Delaney
  • Senior Tutor - Julie Routledge
  • Tutor - Chris Anderson
  • Tutor - Jodie Broadwell
  • Tutor - Katherine Murray
  • Sixth Form Librarian - Lesley Nicolson
  • Administrator - Lyndsey Jennings

Tutors and their role:

Each student is allocated a Tutor. All tutors have received training in the UCAS application process, one-to-one tutoring skills, pastoral care and the use of predictive data to support learning.

The role of the Tutor is to help your child to achieve their full potential. The tutors will work with the students to identify and remove any barriers to their learning, which may include;

  • Issues with attendance
  • Issues with behaviour
  • Work ethic
  • Poor study skills
  • Welfare / health issues
  • Relationship issues

The tutors will also offer information, advice and guidance on progression, including the UCAS application process, apprenticeships and employment. They act as a liaison between home and school, and are the first point of contact for students, parents/carers and teachers. They can be reached on either the school number or via email.

Their commitment to their role is outstanding. The Tutors work to monitor student progress, write reports and write the references required for applications to Higher Education and for employment.

The Tutors offer each student a friendly shoulder to lean on throughout their Sixth Form studies. They assist with academic and study support, careers and personal guidance where appropriate. The strength of our student support system is the emphasis on one-to-one tutorial for which both tutorial staff and students prepare.
